Mkuu wa majeshi ya Ujerumani ajiuzulu
Kamanda Schneiderhan amechukuwa uamuzi huo kutokana na lawama kwamba wizara ya ulinzi ilizuwi kutoa maelezo kwa wananchi na kwa mwendesha mkuu wa mashtaka kuhusu raia waliouawa kwa shambulio la ndege liloamriwa kufanywa na jeshi la Ujerumani mwanzoni mwa mwezi Septemba nchini Afghanistan.Shambulio hilo lililengwa dhidi ya malori ya mafuta.
Hapo kabla, waziri wa mambo ya kigeni wa Ujerumani, Guido Westerwelle, alishikilia kurefushwa muda wa kuyabakisha majeshi ya Ujerumani katika Afghanistan, na, wakati huo huo, akatangaza kwamba serikali itakuwa wazi na itasema ukweli juu ya shughuli za jeshi hilo.
Serekali itarefusha muda wa jeshi hilo kuweko Afghanistan kwa mwaka mmoja hadi mwisho wa mwaka 2010. Idadi ya wanajeshi hao 4,500 itabakia hivyo hivyo , bila ya kubadilika.
Lakini kwa mujibu wa Gazeti linalochapishwa mjini Cologne , Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, wizara ya ulinzi inafikiria kuongeza idadi ya wanajeshi wa Ujerumani nchini Afghanistan kufikia 6,500.

Israel imetangaza kuusitisha kwa muda wa miezi kumi ujenzi wa makazi ya Wayahudi katika eneo la Ukingo wa Magharibi.Kauli hizo zimetolewa na Waziri Mkuu wa Israel Benjamin Netanyahu aliyefafanua kuwa hatua hiyo haitouathiri ujenzi wa majengo ya umma.Punde baada ya kukikamilisha kikao cha baraza la mawaziri,Waziri Mkuu Netanyahu aliyezungumza na waandishi wa habari aliwatolea wito Wapalestina kuyafufua mazungumzo ya kusaka amani ya mashariki ya kati.Marekani imefurahishwa na hatua hiyo ila WaPalestina wamekata kuuitikia wito huo.Kulingana na mpatanishi mkuu Saeb Erakat, wito huo hauna lolote jipya na Israel bado itaendelea na ujenzi wa makazi alfu 3 ambao ulishaanza.Mwanadiplomasia huyo aliongeza kuwa kwavile suala la hatma ya eneo la Jerusalem Mashariki halikutajwa,mazungumzo hayo ya kusaka amani hayatoanza tena.Mazungumzo hayo yamekwama kwa muda wa zaidi ya mwaka mmoja.
Baba Mtakatifu aongoza sherehe za krismasi.
Sherehe za kuadhimisha krismasi zimeanza duniani kote.Baba mtakatifu Benedikt wa 16 ,kama desturi aliongoza sala jana usiku. Awali Papa alijitokeza dirishani kwenye uwanja wa mtakatifu Petro na kuwasha mshumaa kama ishara ya amani. Katika ujumbe wake baba mtakatifu ametoa wito juu ya kukomesha chuki na umwagaji damu katika mashariki ya kati.
Na Katika mji wa Bethlehem, kwenye ukingo wa magharibi, mamia ya watu walijipanga foleni ili kusali katika kanisa la uzawa wa Yesu Kristo ambapo kihistoria Bethlehem ndiyo mji ambako Yesu Kristo alizaliwa.
Hotuba ya Krismasi ya Papa

Kiongozi wa kanisa katoliki duniani, Papa Benedikti wa 16, ametoa wito kwa ulimwengu kuachana na vurugu na machafuko katika hotuba yake ya sikukuu ya Krismasi. Papa Benedict alitoa hotuba hiyo saa chache baada ya kuangushwa chini na mwanamke aliyeruka vizuizi vya usalama katika misa ya mkesha wa Krismasi. Mwanamke huyo aliyetambulika kwa jina la Susana Maiolo, ametajwa kuwa na historia ya matatizo ya akili na aliwahi pia kujaribu kumkaribia kiongozi huyo wa kidini mwaka uliopita lakini akazuiwa. Kiongozi huyo wa kidini, hata hivyo, alinyanyuka mara moja baada ya tukio hilo la kuanguka na kuonekana kuwa katika hali nzuri ya kiafya wakati akihutubia umati wa wafuasi waliokuwa wamekusanyika katika uwanja wa kanisa la St Peters.

Rais Barack Obama ameagiza kuchukuliwa hatua za ziada za kiusalama katika usafiri wa ndege, baada ya mtu mmoja kujaribu kulipua ndege moja ya shirika la Marekani iliyokuwa inaelekea Detroit kutoka mjini Amsterdam. Rais Obama ambaye yuko likizoni huko Haiwaii anasemekana anafuatilia matukio, lakini hajabadili ratiba yake. Taarifa kutoka shirika la ndege la Northwest zinasema raia huyo wa Nigeria amekamatwa na abiria wengine walihojiwa kufuatia tukio hilo.
Kumbukumbu ya Tsunami miaka 5
ACEH, INDEONESIA
Raia wa jimbo la Aceh nchini Indonesia wametenga leo kuwa siku ya maombi, kuwakumbuka wahanga wa janga la Tsunami lililokumba bara Asia miaka mitano iliyopita. Kiasi cha watu elfu 200 waliuawa, na mabilioni ya mali kuteketezwa. Eneo la Aceh, huko Indonesia ndilo lililoathirika zaidi, kufuatia tetemeko kubwa la ardhi lililosababisha Tsunami Desemba tarehe 26 mwaka wa 2004. India, Sri Lanka na Thailand ambazo pia ziliathirika, zimetenga leo kuwa siku ya maombi kama kumbukumbu ya janga hilo. Hapa nchini Ujerumani, maombi yatafanyika katika kanisa moja mjini Dusseldorf.
Mashambulizi yatokea nchini Iraq.

Watu 18 wameuawa, nchini Iraq, katika mashambulizi mapya licha ya usalama kuimarishwa katika sikukuu ya Krismamasi, pamoja na sherehe za Ashura zinazofanyika katika jamii ya Washia nchini humo. Watu sita waliuawa, kufuatia mripuko wa bomu lililokuwa limetegwa barabarani, lilipolipuka wakati msafara wa Washia walipokuwa wanapita huko Sadr, Baghdad. Watatu kati ya waliouawa wanasemekana ni waalimu waliokuwa wakikusanya data, za taasisi ya kuhesabu watu nchini Iraq. Watazamaji wa TBC1 wanatakiwa kuchagua wimbo mmoja kati ya hizo, kisha kupiga kura kwa kuandika jina la wimbo na namba ya mhusika kwenda 15788. Kipindi cha shindano hilo kinarushwa majira ya saa 3:15 usiku kuanzia Desemba 25 mpaka 27. Mshindi wa atapatikana Desemba 27 mwaka huu.

Behaviour change in the Big Society
An experiment in crowdsourcing…
Inspired by a political landscape offering obstacle and opportunity in equal measure, I’m delighted to have been invited to address this year’s HSJ Social Marketing and Behaviour Change conference on the subject of “Behaviour Change in the Big Society.”
As co-design and participatory approaches have become central to our model of social change, I’ve decided to apply the same principles to this presentation and attempt to crowdsource my speech! Here’s how and here’s why… Working day-in, day-out on projects that aim to enable and empower disadvantaged communities to rise to their own challenges, I find the momentum gathering behind the Big Society movement a cause for both optimism and caution.
Are we facing an unprecedented opportunity to build social capital amongst some of our most under-represented groups—to redefine the citizen-state relationship and trigger a wave of empowerment across our communities?
Or a blurred vision, resistant to definition? Philosophical candyfloss yielding a sugar rush, but no sustenance? A spoonful of sugar to disguise a bitter fiscal prescription? A smokescreen for the classic Tory small state?
Amidst this uncertainty, I believe Big Society presentations are best served by discussion, not delivery.
I’ve posted three more topics on this blog to represent the three main themes of my presentation—the impact of the coalition; social marketing or behaviour change; the role of behavioural economics—and want to encourage conference delegates, behaviour change professionals and anyone else who is interested to input, contribute and participate in the themes I present to the floor by submitting content and comments to this blog in response.
